"Oranges and lemons say the bells of St Clements, You owe me five farthing say the bells of Saint Martins...."
Farthings, a coin of the Realm (no longer in circulation) make for essentially British jewellery. In this workshop we will learn introductory skills in metal working as we form and finish copper, coins and wire to make your own jewellery.
I will give five farthings to play and design with - what will you make? A pair of earrings? and cufflinks? a necklace? a bracelet? a charm bracelet? a handbag dangle? a key ring? The choice is yours, you can "spend" them all!
An exciting day, we will learn to work safely with jewellery tools to prepare, form and finish the coins, remember to bring your "elbow grease" for polishing too!
All materials are provided and you can wear your five farthings home!
Please see the FAQ's page on this website for details of how workshops operate.
