    Join us for a festive day's enamelling for beginners! Today we will be making enamelled copper decorations for your tree or to give as gifts! An ideal opportunity for anyone (over the age of 16 years) to come and learn how to apply (vitreous) enamel on copper and to safely and confidently use a hot kiln to create beautifully glossy shiny enamelled decorations! You will be shown how to add your own decoration to your pieces too, lots of simple, easy and effective techniques are possible and you will come away with at least three finished pieces by the end of the day.
     
    Copper shapes and all the materials needed to enamel them is included as well as refreshments  (tea, coffee, herbal teas and biscuits and the odd mince pie thrown in too!).

    If you have never enamelled before this is the course for you!
    Eleanor will lead through this exciting process step by step to create your own enamelled Christmas Tree Decorations.  By the end of the day we will be string them up on ribbon or cord ready to hang on your festive tree! Ho! Ho! Ho!
     
    Bring a friend, make an outing of the day, get ready for Christmas with personalised decorations of your own making!
     

    • Our day together

      We will start with explanations of what vitreous enamel is, and how to use a kiln to achieve a beautiful enamelled finish. Working step by step through the process of preparing copper, sifting your enamels and firing your pieces safely and confidently.

      A large choice of colours (and samples of enamelled copper) will be available to choose your favourites from, and we will doodle ideas on paper for inspiration to decorate our pieces. (Don't worry, you don't need to be able to draw!)

      We will break for lunch. There are a plenty of cafe's and coffee shops in Stoke Newington for you to sit and have your lunch.

      In the afternoon we will concentrate on decorating our pieces and firing them to a professional finish ready for you to take home.

      You can expect to make three finished pieces, sizes and shapes vary and are on a Christmas theme (trees, angels, baubles, polar bears, snowflakes, stars etc). You can choose which 3 you'd like to make from the range available whilst also learning a brand new skill that can also be applied to jewellery and pictures. If you are really keenand catch "the enamelling bug" this course leads onto our intermediate Enamelling on Copper Bowls Day Course for those with some previous experience of enamelling.
