Three fused glass Christmas night lights made on the half day course at Rainbow Glass Studios
  • Fused Glass Christmas night light course: Sunday 8th December 2024 (half day)

    £85.00Price

Spend this festive December morning making a fused glass night light for Christmas!

On this half-day course you will make a picture in fused glass to sit in its own wooden stand which also holds a night-light candle. The flame from the candle will illuminate the fused glass you have made, adding a cosy glow to your home for Christmas and shedding colourful shadows in your living room!

You could make yours with a Christmas theme or a design of your own, or perhaps make yours as a hand-made present for someone you love?

No previous experience is needed, we'll teach you how!

    All materials are included.

For this course we can accept bookings for adults over 16 years (and children over 12 years old if the child is accompanied by a fee paying adult also taking part). It's a lovely way to introduce young people or friends to fused glass and how to be creative with colour and light.

    Date: Sunday 8th December 2024

    Time: 10.00am - 1.00pm (half day)

Venue: Rainbow Glass Studios, Unit 6, 172c Stoke Newington Church Street London N16 0JL

    • The plan for our morning session:

On this exciting introductory workshop you will make one decorative fused glass candle-holder comprising of a hand crafted wooden base (with a slot for a night light at the back) into which your fused glass "postcard" will sit.

Once you add a wax night light candle (or battery-operated light) into the slot behind the glass, your glass will be lit!

Please see the photos for more detail.

During this morning session we will cover:

      • Cutting glass safely and confidently using specialised glass tools
      • Combining fused glass to achieve decorative effects
      • Creating simple designs with a rainbow of coloured glass.
      • Making your design with glass frit, stringers, bobbles, shapes and decorative glass.
      • We will discuss kiln firing temperatures too

Following the course, we will fuse your glass.

You can either collect it later in the week or it can be posted (UK only: Royal Mail - "signed for" for an additional £5 including P+P)

A fun session for singles, couples, families, friends, or just because it's high time you explored your own fledgling creativity and "had a go" at something new!

Includes all materials and refreshments: (Tea, herbal teas, coffee and biscuits)

Please note: this course takes place in a working glass studio and not a classroom setting, so participants need to be able and prepared to stand to cut and prepare glass, and to work standing at benches. (Stools are available in between times). If you have any questions regarding mobility, please make contact via the "contact" page. Thank you.
