This little flower is hand cut from silver sheet, formed and then enamelled with transparent colours using ancient decorative jewellery techniques.
The flower is kiln fired to bond the enamel (finely ground pigmented glass) onto the surface of the silver. It is applied as several very fine layers as thin as a grain of sand and is fired in between each application. A process requiring patience, and great care (and lots of time!)
I love enamelling, and find great satisfaction seeing my designs develop with these beautiful glassy colours becoming part of my pieces.
A special present perhaps for someone you love and have not seen for a while? Or to give to a loved one?
