Our Fused Glass Jewellery beginners course is ideal for adults over 16 years old with no previous experience making it a great gift for a crafting day out!

 

Led by expert artist Eleanor Watson at Rainbow Glass Studios, you will learn how to make beautiful individual fused and dichroic glass jewellery to your own designs. All materials are provided, and once fired, your creations will be posted out to you.

  • Details of our day together:

    Fused Glass Jewellery is an adventure in colour, light and sparkling dichroic glass! On this exciting day course we will:

    • Teach you to cut glass and combine fused glass safely and beautifully
    • Develop your skills in fused glass exploring a variety of decorative techniques to make totally individual jewellery pieces
    • Learn to use a wide variety of glass media including copper, mica, stringers, millefiore, frit, bubbles and dichroic glass (the beautiful jewel-like glass with reflective and refractive qualities).
    • Explore the use of decals (transfers) and fusing at different temperatures, including tack fusing.
    • Learn to design and make your own pieces - the combinations are endless - bring your imagination!
    • Plan and design jewellery findings on which to mount your pieces once fused in the kiln
    • A starter supply of jewellery findings and two tubes of the best adhesive for the job will be provided to take home
    • This course is for anyone who is 16 years or over (or 12 years or over if accompanied by a course fee paying adult). 
    • We limit the size of this course to a maximum of 6 students at a time to ensure 1:1 attention during the day.
    • Includes all materials, plenteous tea, coffee and biscuits.
    • For lunch: there are numerous lovely cafes in the area to frequent for lunch or alternatively please bring a packed lunch
    • Please note: this course takes place in a working glass studio and not a classroom setting, so participants need to be able and prepared to stand to cut and prepare glass, and to work standing at benches. (Stools are available in between times).
