How many people attend The Jewellery Boat® workshops at Rainbow Glass Studios?

Due to the recent Covid-19 lockdown and the continued need for social distancing, we have set a new maximum limit of 4 people on each course to allow for sufficient space in line with UK National Public Health Guidance. Please see the section below for more details entitled Covid-19 Policy.

My courses are for adults over the age of 16 years old.

The studio space is equipped to hold workshops in fused glass, glass jewellery and kiln enamelling.

What do I need to bring to a workshop at Rainbow Glass Studios?

  • Please wear "closed toe" shoes as we will be working with tools and your toes need to be protected.

  • Bring something with which to tie your hair back (if it is long)

  • An apron is a good idea

  • Your glasses if you normally need them for close work

  • A notebook and pen if you want to take your own notes

  • We will have a lunch break. You can either bring a packed lunch with you or frequent one of the many lovely cafe's on Church Street. I will provide plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits during the day.

  • Please note: classes take place in a working glass studio. You will need to be able to stand at our benches to cut glass and to use equipment. Stools are available for a rest in between times, but we will need to stand up to work for the majority of the time.

  • Bring your enthusiasm to learn some new skills and to make new friends!

Making a payment for a class:

Payments for classes are made via the shop on this website. Your place on a course is only secured when payment has been received after which you will receive email confirmation of your booking. Please make your payments via Paypal.

For any courses taking place at Rainbow Glass Studios, it is also possible to book via www.rainbowglassstudios.co.uk

Class cancellation policy

If you need to cancel your participation in a booked class, you will receive a full refund only if you cancel at least 3 weeks prior to your scheduled class. Unfortunately for cancellations made at less than 3 weeks the course fee cannot be refunded unless we can find someone to take your space. In the event that we can't find another student to take your place we can't refund the course fee. However, your fee will be returned in full if Eleanor needs to cancel the class due to circumstances beyond her control. We would recommend you consider taking out insurance in the possible event of not being able to attend due to personal reasons, illness, emergencies or adverse weather conditions. Thank you.

Covid-19 Studio Policy

Due to the continued need for social distancing post-Covid-19-lockdown, we require students attending our courses to adhere to the following health and safety measures:

  • To sanitise your hands on arrival at the studio and repeat this/wash them with soap frequently and as necessary during the day.

  • To wear a PPE face-visor at all times when on the studio premises (a new one will be provided to each student on arrival)

  • To work mainly at the workstation allocated to you as a student and to ensure we are all actively mindful of the social distancing requirements at all other times, for instance when we need to be gathered as a "distanced" group for tutor demonstrations (1m+ as a minimum, but 2m distance whenever possible).

  • Optionally to wear a face mask and gloves if you wish, depending on your personal health, circumstances or need for greater self protection due to age, infirmity or others at increased risk within your family group.

  • To use the "one-way" system within the studio (which will be explained to you on arrival) to help avoid close contact with others sharing the studio space for the day.

  • Supplies of hand sanitiser will be available at each workstation for personal use.

  • Refreshments will be served in disposable cups unless a student brings their own coffee mug with them for their personal repeat use.

  • We will ventilate the studio either by leaving the doors and windows open if the weather allows, or otherwise using an extractor fan to circulate fresh air to everyone attending.

  • If anyone is showing signs of the Covid-19 Virus, (for instance: a new persistent cough, loss of taste or smell, or a high temperature) please stay at home, do not attend the studio and seek NHS or GP advice instead. We all owe it to each other not to spread the virus knowingly. Thank you.

  • Our usual terms and conditions apply to cancellations at anything less than 3 weeks notice, please see the Class Cancellation policy above on this page for more details.

  • To be patient with each other!  Some students may be more nervous than others after lockdown or have greater need for self-protection. We will be supportive of each other and non-judgemental in all respects to these requirements. Thank you!

FAQ's for purchases of jewellery from my shop:

How quickly will the jewellery I am purchasing be posted to me?

  • Usually within 3 working days (excluding Public and Bank Holidays), often sooner. I will do my best to send the item(s) to you as swiftly as I can.

Why will it be sent 1st Class Royal Mail Recorded delivery / signed for?

  • In order to ensure the item is tracked to your door as well as it being insured along the way.

  • This gives us both some financial protection in the event of an item potentially being "lost in the post".

What if I am placing an order from a country other than the United Kingdom? How much will the postage be?

  • Please contact me via the "contact page" above and let me know what you want to buy.

  • I will then establish any additional postage costs and will only charge you for the amount over and above "1st Class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery / signed for fees" for the UK to send it to your country. I will contact you to let you know so you can decide if you want to go ahead with the order.

  • However, I will insist on a "tracked & signed for" postage option when sending outside the United Kingdom.

  • Please also remember that purchasing from abroad sometimes mean there will be import tax, customs duties or VAT payable as the item comes into your own country. These are unfortunately not covered by my purchase price nor the postage and packing costs listed and are therefore payable by you as the customer.

Do you only use sterling silver .925 for your jewellery findings (e.g.earring studs, bails, wires etc)?

  • I use sterling silver (.925), fine silver (.999) or stainless steel wire for earring wires.

  • Each item advertised for sale lists the materials from which the item is made.

  • Please be aware that stainless steel can contain nickel to which some people can be allergic.

  • If you require something other than silver findings on any of my jewellery, please contact me to discuss alternative options, I will be pleased to advise and assist.

Can I return or exchange jewellery I have bought from you?

  • Returns are only accepted if there is evidence that an item is faulty.

  • All earrings are non-returnable and cannot be exchanged for reasons of health and safety.

  • Items (other than earrings) can be exchanged for a credit note to the same value paid as at the time of purchase (excluding postage and packing costs)

  • Any credit note issued will be valid for a period of 6 months from the date of the exchange and will bear the expiry date for your reference.

  • Thank you!
