Fused Glass Christmas Decorations Course in London
Join us at Rainbow Glass Studios in Stoke Newington, North London, for a fun and creative day making your own fused glass Christmas decorations. Choose from a wide range of festive designs — including snowflakes, snowmen, Christmas trees, puddings, stars, holly wreaths and reindeer — or come up with your own ideas. You’ll learn how to safely cut and shape glass and combine different materials to create beautiful decorations for your Christmas tree or windows.
No previous experience is needed. Places are limited to a maximum of 8 students, allowing plenty of individual attention throughout the day.
This course is suitable for adults aged 16 and over, including complete beginners with no previous experience of working with glass.
Children aged 12 and over can also attend if accompanied by a paying adult.

Who is this course for?
Whether you already enjoy making things or simply want to try something completely new, this is a relaxed and creative introduction to fused glass and one to which you can bring children if 12 years or over (with one adult per child attending too)
What will you learn?
During the day, you’ll learn how to:

Cut and shape fused glass safely and confidently

Combine different types of glass to create your own designs

Explore a variety of decorative techniques

Work with glass media including frit, stringers, glass bobbles and dichroic glass

Experiment with materials such as copper and mica

Understand how kiln firing and different temperatures affect the finished glass

Explore the difference between full fusing and tack fusing

Think about ways to hang and display your finished decorations

Develop ideas for creating your own fused glass pieces in the future
Dichroic glass, with its reflective and refractive qualities, can add beautiful jewel-like effects to your decorations.
What will you make?
You’ll design and make your own collection of festive fused glass decorations. (Students usually make 10 or more small decorations each)
You can choose from our Christmas designs or create your own ideas using the range of glass, colours and decorative materials available in the studio.
Your finished pieces will be kiln-fired following the course and will be ready to hang on your Christmas tree or display in your windows.
Your decorations can either be collected from the studio or posted out to you for an additional fee. You can decide this on the day.
A creative day in the studio
Working with fused glass is a wonderfully colourful and creative process. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with different combinations of glass and materials and discover how they change during firing.
There are endless possibilities, so you can follow one of our designs or let your imagination take over.
With a maximum of 6 students, there is plenty of opportunity for one-to-one guidance during the day.
