Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for:

• Complete beginners

• Anyone wanting to learn the fundamentals of fused glass

• People looking for a creative new skill or hobby

• Makers who want to experiment with glass, colour and texture

What will you learn?

During the day you will learn how to:

• Cut glass safely using specialist tools

• Select and combine compatible glass

• Work with colour, texture and decorative inclusions

• Use frit, stringers, glass bubbles, mica and copper inclusions

• Understand glass compatibility and COE (Coefficient of Expansion)

• Use moulds for slumping and draping

• Understand the basics of kiln firing

• Plan and create your own fused glass designs

You will be encouraged to develop your own ideas, with guidance from Eleanor throughout the day.

What can you make?

Depending on your chosen designs, you can create pieces such as:

• Fused glass bowls or dishes

• A set of fused glass coasters

• A candle bridge for nightlights

• Fused glass wall art

• A folded, floral or slumped vessel

• A honey bowl or other small fused glass piece

A selection of moulds is available, allowing you to experiment with both flat glass and three-dimensional forms.

 

What's included?

Your course includes:

• All glass and decorative materials

• Kiln firing of your finished pieces

• Tuition and individual guidance

• Health and safety instruction

Your finished work

Your pieces will be kiln-fired after the course. You can collect your finished work from the studio the following week, or arrange UK postage for an additional charge.
