  • The plan for our creative glass making workshop:

Line yourself up for an exciting introductory day at Rainbow Glass Studios in London making your own beautiful fused glass for items for your home!

    What you could make:

    • A fused glass bowl or dish - up to 30cm diameter,  oval, round or square.
    •  Or make a set of smaller fused glass bowls or dishes
    • A set of 6 matching or contrasting fused glass coasters?
    • A fused glass candle bridge for nightlights
    • Or a fused glass wall art piece?
    • A folded floral slumped glass vessel
    • A honey bowl - of networked fused glass?
    • We let you choose - we have a huge collection of moulds to slump or drape your fused glass too.
    • Suncatchers to hand in the sunshine in your window
    • Sushi dishes, side plates, a large cake plate?

During the day we will cover:

    • Cutting glass safely and confidently using a range of specialised glass cutters and pliers
    • Combining compatible fused glass to achieve interesting decorative effects
    • Compatibility of the various fused glass ranges available (i.e. what is COE?)
    • Creating simple designs with a rainbow of different coloured fused glass, we give you the freedom to choose what you would like to make.
    • You will be allocated a space in the kiln, the largest piece you can make will be up to a maximum of 30cm square or round, and a couple of smaller pieces too if you have time.
    • Using fibreboard, frit, stringers, glass bobbles, mica, copper inclusions or creating bubbles in your glass too.
    • Choosing glass moulds and how slump firings work
    • Kiln firing temperatures, and important health and safety information should you decide to pursue your new hobby further!
    • Learn where to buy supplies and kilns if you catch the fusing glass bug!
    • All materials and firings are included,  no previous experience is necessary.
    • This fused glass course is for adults over the age of 16 years.
    • Following the course, we will fuse your glass (and slump your pieces if you want us to) You can either collect them later in the week from the studio (recommended) or they can be posted to you (Royal Mail - "signed for" for £15 including P+P in the UK only).
    • Our classes are limited to a maximum of 6 students to allow for more 1:1 attention during the day.
    • A great crafting day out for singles, couples, families, friends, Hen Parties, or just because it's high time you explored your own fledgling creativity and "had a go" at something new!
    • Lunch: there are numerous lovely cafes in the area to frequent for lunch or alternatively please bring a packed lunch.

    Please note:

    • This course takes place in a working glass studio and not a classroom setting
    • Participants need to be able and prepared to stand to cut and prepare glass, and to work standing at benches. (Stools are available in between times).
